Busted out the DVD collection over the weekend and this has been in my mind since:

Kinja'd!!!

Homer - “Kids, kids...maybe Lisa has a point about America being the land of opportunity, and maybe Adil has a point about the machine of capitalism being oiled by the blood of the workers.”

And now that Albania is a NATO member and is fairly pro-west, it shows how things change.

Amazing how being enslaved by Communist-aligned dictators does that.

Because all complex socio-economic and political issues can be understood by a kid in a cartoon, in one sentence, spouting a socialist BS talking point.

How can someone defend a country that allows the electorate to be so ignorant of economic realities of earning, and the corruption of greed that isn’t supposed to be the way it works, but is a fact of human nature. And that same greed also leads political leaders to be power hungry, and getting rich by brokering their political power, against the limitations of the US Constitution.

Cronyism is not equivalent to actual, natural economic capitalism. It is falsely referred to as crony capitalism, cronyism is antithetical to capitalistic economic meritocracy, and they are at odds. Socialist politics and economics seeks to INCREASE the bonds of government political control over the economic means of production and service provision, with onerous tax-funded bureaucratic regulation, which breeds even more power-greed and economic value destruction.

But hey... let the voters get their impetus from media leftist over-simplifications, like that sentence from Lisa Simpson. That has worked so well so far... with deficit spending beyond the pale, and nearly 20 trillion dollars in current debt, with hundreds of trillions of dollars (basically unquantifiable in real economic value) of future un-funded liabilities.

But people don’t want to talk about that being indefensible, despite the president that has incurred almost half of that debt, and doubled deficit spending, was the one who decried deficits and debt as immoral when he ran for president 8 years ago.

Idiocracy is closer to reality than this Simpsons quote.

I don’t think the kid in the cartoon is the one that actually wrote his line ...

But seriously though, you’ve mistaken this thread for a serious political discussion. If I was interested in that, I probably would have posted more than a couple of pictures that featured a quote from a show 26 years old.
